What is puberty?

Puberty is a stage in an individual's life when they reach sexual maturity, typically occurring between ages 10-16. People with vulvas may develop breasts, grow pubic and armpit hair, and begin menstruation. People with penises may experience growth of testicles and penis, deepening of voice, and growth of pubic, armpit, and facial hair. Puberty in intersex individuals can include diverse experiences due to unique hormonal profiles and physical characteristics.
