Lubrication refers to the use of liquids or gels to reduce friction during sexual activity. It can enhance comfort and pleasure. Natal vaginas can naturally self-lubricate when aroused, but for many it's not always enough. Depending on the type of sexual activity and use of contraception, one might use a water, silicone, or oil based lube. Oil based lubes are discouraged when using a latex condom. Silicone and water based lubes work best with a latex condoms. Make sure to use plenty of lubricant when engaging in any type of penetrative sex.
