What is gender identity?

(noun) Gender identity is an individual's internal sense of being a girl/woman/female, a boy/man/male, both, neither, or beyond, which may or may not align with their assigned sex at birth. Examples include cisgender woman, transgender man, non-binary person, agender, etc.
